By constantly refreshing the environment, pumps remove what the shrimp do not need and bring in the nutrients they do.

One of the most critical tools on the farm is also the simplest: the siphon. This manual tool allows farmers to remove uneaten feed, debris, and any shrimp that did not survive.
Quick removal is essential because of a specific biological trait: shrimp are cannibalistic. If a sick or dead shrimp remains in the pond, others may eat it, which can spread disease through the entire population in a matter of days. The siphon is the frontline defense against these outbreaks, ensuring that the environment remains hygienic and safe.
