Challenging Global Misconceptions
One of Brandon’s primary missions is to change how the world views Indonesian aquaculture. There is a common misconception that local farms are low-tech or unregulated. Brandon is the living antithesis of that stereotype.
"I went from a very high standard of living in the UK to the forests of Indonesia to ensure our quality is world class," Brandon explains. With a background in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, he has integrated rigorous ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards into their operations.
His focus is clear:
- Zero Harmful Chemicals: Applying a deep understanding of the dangers of improper chemical use.
- Sustainability: Implementing the high level sustainability practices he studied in Europe.
- Modernization: Managing 47 active ponds (with 8 more on the way) using data-driven efficiency.
A New Generation of Farmers
Brandon isn't alone in this journey. He represents a growing community of young, tech savvy farmers they are mostly under the age of 35. They working together to make Indonesian shrimp the global gold standard for quality and safety.
Despite the challenges like living in remote facilities with limited internet, Brandon finds the human element to be the most rewarding part of the job. "You’re with the team 24 hours a day for months," he says. "You learn about people from all different backgrounds and cultures across Indonesia. It’s an amazing melting pot."
The "Owner - Operator" Advantage
What sets their listed company apart is a commitment to being present. Brandon believes the biggest mistake an owner can make is being absent from the ponds. By living on-site and staying close to the harvest, he ensures that the shrimp reaching Target, Kroger, and Stater Bros shelves in the US is managed with an "owner’s eye" for detail.
From the University of Exeter to the Indonesian forest, Brandon’s journey proves that the future of seafood is young, professional, and deeply committed to doing things the right way.
